T56 SSwap
Well, it's finally DONE!!!! Woooo-Hoooo!!!! A HUGE thanks to Mike and Jon for helping me out with the swap! I NEVER would have been able to do it without them! It was more like I helped them out though... "Bill... Get me the 9/16th..." and "Bill... Go clean my tools" or "Bill... Get me a brownie" but it was worth it. :)
And it all happened on April 12th, 2003. We started at 9am, and were driving it by 6pm. Oh, and there was a one hour lunch in there too... Pretty impressive if you ask me!
So here are some pics:
Here it is, waiting to be installed. A T56 out of a 97 Camaro Z28 30th Anniversary edition.

View from the front. Yeah, I know about the damn oil leak. ;) It's from the front pan seal. From the cam swap. Yes, it's on the "to do list" for the summer!

No tranny. :)

Mike installing the clutch.

Again.

Jon BENCH PRESSING the tranny into place! (Note to self, do NOT piss off Jon!) ;)

M&J Custom hacked Crossmember. ;)

Tranny is in! Yes, my headers are rusty. I know. I have Tri-Y's because of it. Oh well, that's another story...

CIA Quad 1 to T56 Slave Clearance = Zero. Just a heads up. We had to use a pry bar on the header to get the slave adapter onto the tranny. (And when I say "we", I mean "Jon.") :)

Nice, clean, virgin floor...

Aaaaah!

Eeeeeek!

I can't bear to watch!

Two Holes... One... Two... ;)

Yeah Baby! Nice Hurst Shifter!!!

BBHP Pedal Assembly. Nice hefty unit!

Jon couldn't wait for a seat... "We don't need no Stinkin' Seats!" He actually wanted a milk crate! :)

Now that's what I'm talkin' about!!!!

Slight problem. Hurst shifter has a buldge on the base on the passenger side. We didn't notice, and didn't leave space for it when we cut the floor. Oops. Took care of that this morning. :) No more noisy noisy!

And that's it!!!! So now you're looking at the World's First T56 Equipped Caddy Fleetwood!!!! I still have a few things to do. I actually like the way it looks without the console, so I think I am going to just get a Hurst boot and run that for a while. But I dunno, may change my mind and swap a console in too... Ya never know. :) Check back again for more updated pics when I get them. :)
Here's another couple that I like!
